Comparison of discontinuous damage models of Mullins-type

Abstract The Mullins effect is a characteristic property of filled rubber materials whose accurate and efficient modelling still challenging task. Innumerable constitutive models for elastomers are described in the literature. Therefore, this contribution gives review on some widely used approaches, presents classification, proves their thermodynamic consistency, discusses reasonable modifications. To reduce wide range models, choice restricted to those which reproduce idealised, discontinuous effect. Apart from theoretical considerations, two compounds were produced tested under cyclic uniaxial equibiaxial tension as well pure shear. Based experimental data, benchmark that compares fitting quality discussed compiled favourable approaches identified. results sound basis establishing novel or improving existing models.
